So this is the second book in the Blood of Eden series, The Immortal Rules is the first book. I read The Immortal Rules in February and I fell in love with it so when I saw this on Netgalley I jumped at the chance to get it. I was so excited to read it and it was brilliant!
The Eternity Cure picks up a couple of months after The Immortal Rules and Allison is on the hunt for Kanin.
I found this one to be much more fast paced than the first book and there was a lot more going on which kept the book interesting from beginning to end. I felt like the whole storyline of this one was much better than the first one - but I still loved the first one - and I enjoyed it even more!
Allison is still such a amazing character. I liked that was got to see a lot more of her vampire side in this one instead of her clinging desperately to her human side all the time. She starts to come to terms with what she is and instead of pretending to be human, she accepts who she really is but manages to control her vampire side. I love seeing her fight with her Katana, she's such a badass!
Jackal is one character I NEVER thought I would ever like, but surprisingly I really liked him in this one. Don't get me wrong, he's still an ass who caused a lot of people to die/killed people, but he grew on me. I saw a different side to him in this one, a side that actually cares about people. I think he even started to grow sympathetic towards humans even though he barely showed it. He was such a cocky character and he had me laughing a lot with his sarcastic remarks and I'm so glad that he was a main character in this one.
And then we have Zeke. Zeke was such a badass in this book! Showing up in New Covington, taking charge, protecting people - I fell in love with him all over again. He's such a brilliant and smart character. There was a twist involving Zeke towards the end of the book that I didn't expect! But then when it happened I was like 'Well, I suppose that does make sense. Why didn't I think of it?' It still came as a shock, but then I started to wonder why I didn't think of it.
Kanin was just regular Kanin in this book. Although, I think his views have changed too. He seemed to gain some humanity back in this book and I started to like him a lot more,
Sarren is a psycho bastard! I actually hate him so much! He caused so much pain and destruction in this book that I can't wait to see the end of him.
The storyline was definitely more interesting with the different things going on like: Rescuing Kanin; Searching for the cure; Saving New Covington and Hunting Sarren. There were some other storylines' weaved in that I really enjoyed reading - like the interactions between Allison & Stick.
The ending of this book DESTROYED ME! I actually screamed and threw my kindle away because I was that distraught. I haven't had that kind of reaction towards a book in quite a while, but that ending was soul destroying. I cried my eyes out. Mainly because of what I had to read in the book. It was shocking and heartbreaking and I just sat for about 15 minutes staring at my kindle before I could even read the Epilogue.
And then I got to the end of the Epilogue and I almost died again! My heart couldn't take it anymore! I still don't even know if what I think happened at the end actually happened. It wasn't confirmed so I have no idea and it's driving me crazy! I have to know! I can't wait until next year!
I definitely, definitely recommend picking up this book! It such an amazing story! Even if you didn't enjoy the first one that much, I highly recommend giving this one a shot because it was so much better than the first one.

So this was probably my most anticipated debut novel for this year. I was so excited when I heard the storyline and saw the cover and I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Thankfully, I wasn't let down when I read it. I thought it was such and fascinating and interesting story and I fell in love with it.
It's basically about these two teenagers Audra and Vane who are sylph - they can control the wind - but Vane doesn't know he's a sylph and he's extremely special, so Audra has to protect him and try to get him to remember who he is when she realises they're in danger.
I've never read a book that had people who could control wind before, and that was the main thing that fascinated me about this book. I loved seeing how Audra connected with the wind like she was part of it and the way she could control it and make it move to form these powerful weapons. It was interesting seeing that each of the 4 winds - Northerly, Southerly, Easterly & Westerly - all had their own unique songs/language to control them. I was completely fascinated by it.
Audra was a fantastic character. She's tough, strong, funny and extremely powerful. She's also an extremely vulnerable character. She blames herself for her father's death and her mother hates her. I really felt for Audra. I connected with her straight away.
I really loved Vane's character. Vane survived a hurricane that killed his parents, but he lost all his memories from before that day and doesn't remember anything. Vane was such cocky, confident, lovable character. I really enjoyed seeing his development in this book. He had to adjust from being a normal teenage boy to a supernatural being who could control the wind. He slightly annoyed me at the start, but as he progressed and discovered who he really was he grew on me and by the end I loved him.
Audra and Vane's relationship was an odd one. You could tell there was connection between them, but Audra was always doing her best to keep her distance. They had a great friendship and I loved seeing Audra knock Vane on his ass when he was being cocky or refusing to believe his powers.
And then we find out the reason that Audra is distancing herself from Vane - he's supposed to be with someone else! And at that point I was like "Who is this bitch who has a claim on Vane?" I just wanted Audra and Vane together so much! They had so much chemistry and their feelings were clearly mutual, so I was like "Screw that other bitch! Just kiss him Audra!"
There was a lot of action at the end of this book when it came to the massive fight scene. This part of the book fascinated me. Reading about Vane and Audra using their abilities to form weapons and fight was brilliant! I was amazed by everything they could do, it was fantastic!
And then!! We find out something MAJOR that had me completely shocked! I actually couldn't believe it! I really felt for Audra when it happened. Audra's mum is such a bitch! I hate her.
I definitely recommend this book. It was fascinating, different and the action is superb. I'm so excited for the next one and I'm sad that I need to wait another year for it!

So this is one of those books that has a massive hype surrounding it. I'd been excited for it for quite a while and decided that I was going to pre-order it. Before I started reading, I saw so many amazing reviews for this. When I started reading, I was hoping that it would live up to all the hype. And boy did it. It actually smashed all my expectations of it. It was so much better than I could have ever imagined.
The world building in this book was fantastic. The first 100 or so pages were basically about what had happened. Cassie was telling the story about what happened to her life. Everyone was just going about their usual routine until an alien mothership appeared in the sky. Even though they knew it was coming, they had no idea what to expect. Cassie describes the 4 waves that happened and how they killed nearly every living person on the planet. I loved hearing about what had happened to the world. Even though it was shocking and terrible, the writing was spectacular and had me gripped right from the start. Having the back story told straight away helped me understand what was happening a lot more. It started off with Cassie in the present, and then she told the story of her past and how everything that had happened led up to that moment in the present with the soldier.
I really liked Cassie's character. She used to be this normal, average teenage girl who had a crush on the hottest guy in school. But after the alien invasion, she had to change. Cassie became this strong, resourceful young woman who was determined to do everything she possibly could to survive - which meant trusting no one and believing she was the last human alive. Hearing Cassie's back story helped me understand why she became the person she is and I understood her more.
Zombie was kind of an odd character to start with. I was kind of unsure about him, but as the storyline progressed, I started to like him. Although he's a soldier who's being trained to be a killing machine, he has a soft side which I loved seeing. Zombie isn't this character's real name - incase you haven't guessed - and I was really surprised when I found out who it was. When that happened, I started liking his character even more. I felt sorry for him because of the position he's in and everything he's lost. But when Nugget appeared he started to show his softer caring side and I really liked seeing that side of him.
And then we have Evan. Oh, Evan. Evan was this sweet farm boy who rescued Cassie after she'd been shot by a Silencer. He was so caring and thoughtful that I just loved his character. He and Cassie had kind of a romance thing going on, but I'm not actually too sure what's going on with them. They had their ups and their downs, but they always ended up together. I'm rooting for them in the next book. There was a twist with Evan that you kind of already know, but it was still a shock to hear him say it out loud.
I think there may be a love triangle in the second book. I hope not, but there could be.
Other than romantic relationships, we had the relationship between Cassie and her brother Sam. Cassie and Sam are so close after the alien invasion, and after Sam is taken by some soldiers to a safe place and Cassie witnesses something awful, she spends her time trying to find a way to get her brother back. She worries about him and it was heart wrenching to see her without him. She was always thinking about him and I was just so desperate for them to be reunited!
AND THEN THE ENDING! It just about tore my heart in half. I want to know what happened! What happened to Evan?! I need to know NOW!
This whole book was just fantastic. It seriously blew me away. I think this is the first book I've read that actually has a full on alien invasion. Rick Yancey did a fantastic job with this book. It had me hooked from the start and I just couldn't put it down.
If you haven't read this book yet, I highly suggest going and getting hold of a copy. This is probably my favourite book of the year so far. I think it's going to be extremely hard to top this book.

This is the best debut novel I've read this year so far! It was so much better than I was expecting it to be! I honestly didn't expect to be pulled into this book from the very first page. There was just something about it that I loved and I couldn't put it down.
So this book revolves around our main character Anna who has four boys living in her basement. These boys have undergone treatment that has caused them to be altered.
I loved Anna's character right from the start. She was so smart and caring. She was always looking out for the boys and I really liked that about her. I also thought she was kind of naive to start with, but throughout the story as things started to be uncovered, her character developed. She became a powerful character and I just loved her.
So there were 4 guys in this book! Yes, 4 very hot guys. We have Sam, Cas, Nick & Trev.
Sam was a very practical character. He knew what he had to do and would go to any lengths to do what he had to do. I liked him, then I hated him for a very short period and then I loved him! I loved seeing his journey and seeing him discover who he really is and what happened to him. I felt so bad for Sam because of everything that had happened to him, it was awful.
Cas was probably my favourite out of all the guys. he was so sweet and funny! He had me howling most of the time whenever he said something. I always looked forward to hearing what he was going to say next. He always tried to lighten the mood and I loved him for that.
I actually started out hating Nick. He was such an arrogant character. He was always being horrible to Anna and causing problems. But as the book went on, and I got to see more of Nick and learn more about him, my opinion of him changed. It was mostly towards the end of the book that I started to like him.
I really liked Trev at the start of the book. He seemed to be the most down to earth and normal one out of all the boys. He loved reading and he was super smart! And then something happened that involved Trev and I was just so shocked! My opinion of him slightly changed. I couldn't hate him. He was Trev! I still really like him and I'm hoping I'll get to see more of him in the next book.
This story was just action packed. There wasn't one dull moment in this book and I loved it! I loved being drawn completely into the story and not wanting to put it down for anything. I think I finished it in about 4 hours! I loved it too much to stop reading.
There was a lot going on in the story with the 4 altered boys, trying to discover what happened to them and who they were before. There were a couple of other things going on as well that I don't want to mention because it'll spoil the book and I don't want to do that because I was just so shocked!
I'm trying not to go on and on about this book because I know I could, but my review would definitely include spoilers if I did. So I won't. This was definitely the best debut novel I've read this year so far so it definitely deserves:
If you haven't read this yet, go and read it now! Trust me, you won't regret it! You'll be kicking yourself for not reading it sooner.

I think this is the first horror novel I've read in years. I hate reading them. I'd much rather watch a horror movie because when I'm reading, my imagination goes into overdrive and I start to freak myself out. Even though I did it with this book, I'm so glad that I decided to pick this up. Seriously, it was the best horror novel I've ever read. It had me on edge the whole time and I was desperate to know who the killer was. I was hooked from the very start.
Like I said, I was hooked right from the start of this book. The storyline about a house party on an island really appealed to me for some reason. I think it might have been the fact that the island was deserted (basically) and that would have added more suspense to the book (which it did).
I really liked the main character Meg. She was just a normal girl with a bipolar best friend who was off her meds. So Meg was always looking after Minnie. I admire her for being able to deal with Minnie because she was so high maintenance and kind of bitchy that I don't think I could have dealt with her. Meg was a quiet character who would much rather spend her time on her laptop writing than go to a party. I really liked that about her character. She kind of reminded me of me. I'd much rather spend my nights curled up with a book than go out to a party. She was definitely my favourite character in the book.
The murders in this book started out with you wondering if there actually was a murderer on the island or if they were just accidents/suicide, but by about the 3rd or 4th death, it became pretty obvious that their was a killer to the characters in the book. I think they were still trying to convince each other that they were accidents, but I think I would probably do the same to try and make myself feel slightly better in that kind of situation.
I think I'd made my 2 prediction for the killer about 100 pages in. I'm not going to mention my two predictions because they you'll know who it isn't! But I will say that I was shocked! I honestly didn't see the killer coming! It was a huge surprise. I think I spend about 2 mins going 'NO FREAKIN' WAY!'. It was such an unexpected twist, and I loved it!
I absolutely loved this book! If you're into horror/mystery novels I definitely recommend this one! Even if you're not, I recommend it anyways because it was just so good! I ended up giving this book:
I'm really excited to read more of Gretchen McNeil's books because this one was brilliant!

So this is was my first read of May and I'm so glad that it was this one! I didn't really know much about this book when I started it, but I was really intrigued by the story and the cover was just so beautiful!
So this book follows our main character Kate who moves to Paris with her sister to live with her grandparents after her parents are killed.
Kate was a very interesting character. She was kind of like the person I'd be if I lived in Paris - reading books in coffee shops. She was always reading as well which was another thing I liked about her. She was a nice, friendly character who was having to deal with the death of her parents. I felt really sorry for Kate and her sister, but most of the time they managed to be strong and get on with their lives.
I loved the setting in Paris. Paris is probably my favourite place for a book to be set now. Even though I've only read like 3 book set there! I felt like I was in Paris with Kate. Wandering through the streets, going to museums/galleries and sitting in the little coffee shops. Paris is somewhere I've always wanted to visit, and after all of these books I'm even more desperate to go!
And then we meet Vincent. The mysterious guy in the coffee shop. I know right away that I was going to love him. He's such a sweet and caring character. He'd do anything to be with Kate. There are some times that he comes across as kind of stalkerish, but I guess that's just Vincent. Vincent is a Revenant which, as they describe it, is kind of a cross between a Zombie and Ghost. He's also immortal. The have a special purpose in life which is good because of what they're doing, but it's horrible because of what they have to do.
The Revenants have enemies called the Numas who are also in Paris and the Numas purpose in life is the opposite of the Revenants. They're the bad guys!
I'm really interested to learn more about Kate's grandfather because he seemed to know about the Numas so I'm interested to find out if he knows about Vincent or whether he had a run in with a Numa at some point in his life.
I adored the romance in this book. Kate and Vincent were just so sweet together! They made the perfect couple. Their relationship wasn't instantaneous, and they went through their ups and downs over a month or two. The other thing I liked about their relationship is that the words 'I love you' were not said out loud! Neither of the characters said this to each other and I was so happy! It's rare that you get a YA book where the characters don't declare their love for each other in the first book, so I was really happy with that.
There was some action in this book with the fights between the Revenants and the Numa and I really enjoyed them. Especially the end fight! That was awesome! I was on the edge of my seat during that one.

According to Anna’s best friend, Frankie, twenty days in Zanzibar Bay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy every day, there’s a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there’s something she hasn't told Frankie–she’s already had her romance, and it was with Frankie’s older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.
I hadn't actually planned on reading this one, but after I had finished The Collector I decided that I wanted something light to read, so I decided to pick this up. I'm definitely glad that I picked it up. It was a really cute YA contemporary.
The whole story revolves around these two best friends(Anna & Frankie) who are going on holiday to Zanzibar. Frankie decides that her and Anna should meet 20 boys on their vacation and have a summer romance. But what Frankie doesn't know is that Anna already had a summer romance with Frankie's brother who died a year ago.
I really liked all of the characters in this book. Anna was a good character. She was just a normal teenager who fell in love but then had her heart ripped out when the boy she loved died. I felt really bad for Anna because no one knew about her and Matt so she couldn't really show how upset about his death she was. I just wish she'd had the courage to tell Frankie about her and Matt sooner.
Frankie really annoyed me. At the start of the book, she was such a nice person. But after Matt's death, she turned into this shallow girl who thought boys, makeup and clothes were the most important things in life. Throughout the book we get to see glimpses of the old Frankie though and I really liked Frankie at those times.
I really enjoyed the whole storyline. I love contemporary novels and this was such a great one. I liked seeing Frankie and Anna trying to meet twenty boys during their vacation - even though they came nowhere near that number at the end - but I still enjoyed seeing them try. And then there was the 2 boys they did meet - Jake & Sam. Jake I didn't particularly care about. He seemed pretty shallow and full of himself. But Sam, on the other hand, was such a sweet character. He was funny, kind and I just fell in love with him. Sam and Anna were so cute together! I was pretty sad at the end when I remembered that they were just having a summer relationship and that they couldn't continue to see each other. I wish they could have though, because they were just really great together.
There were a few moments in this book that had me tearing up - like when Anna was remembering things about Matt or when Frankie, Anna and Frankie's mum were talking about him. I didn't cry, but my eyes were watering.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely what I was in the mood for. I gave this book:
I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a great summer/beach read. It's perfect for that.
