Insurgent picks up right after Divergent. Tris, Four, Marcus & Caleb are on a train heading to the Amity headquarters. 

Half of Dauntless have teamed up with Erudite to work with Jeanne. The storyline of this one revolves around bringing down Erudite, finding out what Marcus knows, killing Jeanne and finding out what Jeanne is doing with the simulations.

I loved Insurgent just as much as I loved Divergent. There was a lot more going on in this book and it was exciting and thrilling. I just couldn't put it down.

Tris had changed in this book. After everything that she had been through, done and witnessed in Divergent she had became extremely scared of using guns and sort of became focused on risking her life at every possible opportunity. I kind of understood why she was doing all of that. She was on her own now - basically - and she was kind of depressed. She felt like she had to to everything she could to make up for what she did. I really felt for her in this book. She was so vulnerable and scared, yet she was still the same old Tris we all knew and loved. It just depended on what kind of situation she was in.

Tobias had changed in this one too. He became more reserved and was keeping a lot from Tris. There were times where I kind of wanted to punch him because he was being an ass, but I still loved him.

Because Tobias & Tris had both changed and were both keeping secrets, this cause a lot of problems with their relationship. They both had different opinions of situations, they argued a lot, they kept things from each other and they weren't the same people they were in the last book. Everything had changed. They both had trust issues and I was hoping that they would be able to get through everything and get back on track because I loved them together.

My hate for Jeanne escalated in this book. I hated her in the first book, but because she was in this one more, my hate for her grew and grew. She's such a horrible person. I hate her so much!

There was a twist involving Tobias in this one that I didn't expect. I was quite shocked actually when it happened. And then I just couldn't believe that he'd kept it a secret from Tris!
There was also a twist involving Caleb that I was really shocked about! I wasn't really sure what to do after it.

And then there was the ending. It was completely unexpected. I never in a million years expected that to happen. Now I'm extremely curious to find out what that revelation will do to everyone and what's going to happen next! I'm dying to know!

I first read Divergent around this time last year. I decided to re-read it this year so that I could finally read Insurgent - since Allegiant is out later on this year - and because I couldn't really remember everything that had happened. I could remember the basic storyline and that I enjoyed it, but I couldn't remember what else had happened in the book.

Re-reading this book allowed me to fall in love with the characters and the storyline all over again. I love re-reading books and I haven't done it that often in the past year, so I enjoyed the experience of re-reading a book again.

Beatrice 'Tris' Prior has always been one of my favourite characters. When Beatrice was in Abnegation, she couldn't really be herself. She felt pressured into being selfless and she felt like she couldn't live up to her brother's selfless behaviour. She felt trapped and wanted to get out.
So when she transfers to Dauntless and adopts the name Tris, she finally feels like she's able to be herself. She doesn't have to be quiet or refrain from doing things she wants to and she started to seem more like herself. She's such a brave, funny, independent character and all of these qualities were shown more when she joined Dauntless. She also became more selfless in Dauntless than she'd ever been in Abnegation.

I really love Four. I couldn't wait for him to come into the story. He's just such an amazing character. There are times when he seemed like an ass, but I knew he had to act like that to protect Tris. He's such a sweet, friendly, protective character. I loved his story and I enjoyed learning more about him. Four has had a tough life, he's made some difficult decisions and been through some terrible things but he always seems so strong and I admired that about him.

I loved some of the other characters in the book, like Christina, Will and especially Uriah. Uriah is probably my favourite character - except for Tris and Four. He's just so funny and lighthearted, and I really enjoyed every scene he was in.

I really hated Eric and Molly, but mostly I hated Peter. Peter was such a vile character. He was willing to do anything to make sure he got into Dauntless. He's one of the most horrible characters I've ever read about.

There was a lot going on in Divergent. There was the whole thing about the Divergents; the tension between the factions; the simulations and what they're really doing. There wasn't one thing about this book that I didn't enjoy. Everything was just fantastic!

I loved the relationships in this book.
First, we had Tris and Four. Their relationship development was one that I really loved. You could tell that Four had feelings for Tris, even though it hadn't been said yet. The way he acted around her and how he did things to protect her just showed how much he cared for her. They were such an amazing couple.
Also, there was Will & Christina. I enjoyed seeing their friendship grow into a romantic relationship. They were so cute together.

Divergent is one of my favourite dystopian novels and I'm so glad I re-read it. Everything about this book is amazing. If you haven't read this already, GO AND READ IT NOW. You won't regret it.

So for this month, again I don't have much to do so I'll probably be reading a hell of a lot. I'm pushing myself again this month.

I absolutely adore Malorie Blackman's novels. I read a lot of her books when I was in high school and the second I knew about this book I got so excited! I couldn't wait for it to come out and when I saw it on Netgalley, I jumped at the chance to get a copy and I'm so glad that I got approved for it!

This was such a fantastic dystopian novel. Brilliant characters, amazing plot and fantastic twists!

I really liked Kaspar. He was so motivated and determined to do something great with his life and protect the people in his city from the rebels. He was extremely smart and observant.

Mac was such a friendly character. She was very smart and funny and she knew how to make Kaspar blush and feel uncomfortable and I really enjoyed those parts.

Rhea was an interesting character. I knew I should have hated her because she was a rebel, but there was just something about her. She just seemed different and nothing like how the rebels were described that she intrigued me. I wanted to know more about her.

The insurgents are so hated in this book. It's constantly mentioned how evil and stupid they are and how much they are hated. The amount of times it was said kind of started to make me doubt it.

There was some romance in this book, but really not a lot. There was something going on between Kas and Mac, but Kas also had an attraction to Rhea. It wasn't a major part of the book, more like a very very minor part. There wasn't much emphasis on it which I really enjoyed. I did, however, enjoy the development of Kas and Mac's relationship. They were friends for the whole book and you could just tell something was going to happen.
I'd had my fingers crossed for Rhea. But that never happened.

There was a MASSIVE twist at the end. One that I never saw coming at all. It was such a surprise. It was exciting and thrilling and I really enjoyed it!

The ending was alright. I expected a bit more from it and I was hoping that maybe something else would happen. But all in all, I really enjoyed this book. It's such a fantastic novel and I definitely recommend giving it a read when it comes out!

So this is my first time reading/writing a review for a graphic novel. To be perfectly honest, the only reason I picked this up is because the south Lanarkshire libraries seem to have every book in the Vampire Academy series apart from the first one (which is pretty stupid). So when I saw the graphic novel in the library today I thought – Well, since I can’t get a hold of the book I may as well just read the graphic novel so that I know what happens and then I can read the rest of the series. I didn’t expect to love the graphic novel as much as I did. The pictures helped my imagination and I loved how some of the scenes were portrayed. The illustrations were beautiful and I enjoyed them.

So Vampire Academy is about this girl called Rose who is a Dhampir and she’s best friends with Lissa who is a Moroi. Rose is also Lissa’s guardian and she has to protect her from the evil Strigoi vampires. 

Rose is such a fantastic protagonist. She’s feisty, stubborn and kick ass. She’s got a brilliant attitude. She had me laughing quite a lot with the things she was thinking. She's so protective of Lissa and would do anything for her.

I loved Lissa’s character too. She was dependant on Rose at the start because of the situation they were in and also because of their bond. I just think she needs to learn to stick up for herself and not let every insult someone hurls at her tear her apart.

And then we have the guys. Dimitri and Christian.

So I loved both of them. They were both just fantastic characters.

Dimitri is the hot older guy that Rose has a crush on. He’s assigned to help her get her training back on track and you can just tell that there is chemistry between them. And then some stuff happened that led to this scene!

And I almost died. I JUST WANT THEM TO BE TOGETHER! They have to be together!

And Christian was just amazing. At first I just thought of him as the weird loner guy, but as the book went on and there were more interactions with him, I started to really like him. You could tell he really cared about Lissa. Christian was such a badass with his fire power! And he and Lissa were just so cute together! 

I absolutely loved the storyline. From the start when Lissa and Rose were on their own to when they were brought back to the Academy and dealing with all of the people there. It was just fantastic.

I loved the storyline with Victor too. I never saw it coming! But it was brilliant. I feel bad about Natalie though. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed that someone will punch that bitch Mia in the face. She deserves it.

All in all, this was a fantastic story. I’ll still be trying to get my hands on the actual book though because I still really want to read it! But I will definitely be reading the rest of the graphic novels for the series too. I really enjoyed it!

The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

Third book in the Iron Fey series

In less than twenty-four hours I'll be seventeen.

Although technically, I won't actually be turning seventeen. I've been in the Nevernever too long. When you're in Faery, you don't age. So while a year has passed in the real world, age wise I'm probably only a few days older than when I went in.

In real life, I've changed so much I don't even recognise myself.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.





I have no idea why I put this book down in April. It was brilliant, amazing, fantastic and I just loved it!

So this book picks up after what happened at the end of The Iron Daughter and Ash, Meghan and Puck are dealing with what happened. The Nevernever is in trouble because of the Iron Fey and the False King and it's up to Ash, Puck and Meghan to save the day.

Meghan is so powerful in this book. She has control over Summer and Iron glamour, but she just can't find out how to use them without getting ill. The two different glamours are rejecting each other. She became more kick ass than usual in this one after her sword training with Ash. She's got such an amazing attitude and I just love her so much!

Ash was his usual moody self in this book. But he's also such a sweet, loving, caring and protective character and he cares for Megan so much. She means the world to him and he's so scared of losing her.

I just really wished Puck would get lost in this one. I hate his stupid smirk and his flirty attitude. I just wanted him to go away and leave Ash and Meghan alone!

There was a hell of a lot going on in this book. The fight against the Iron Fey and the False King to save the Nevernever; Ash and Meghan's relationship; Megan's dad and the Winter and Summer courts.
I seriously don't know why I put this down. There was so exciting and jam packed full of action!

But the ending </3. Oh the ending! My heart was in pieces. I can't take it! I need to read The Iron King next month because I just HAVE to know what's going to happen!!
