It runs from the start of June right through to the end is going to help spread the awareness of different Mental Health issues. 1. The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer
2. Pretty Girl Thirteen by Liz Coley
3. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (re-read)
4. Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern
5. The Program by Suzanne Young

Bout of Books 10: TBR & Goals

Bout of Books

Hello everyone! I can't believe it's almost time for Bout of Books 10! I'm getting excited and looking forward to spending a whole week reading. So today I'm here to show you guys what I'm planning on reading and what goals I've set myself for the read-a-thon.

TBR

I've decided to set myself 7 books to read for the read-a-thon because I feel like that's a realistic amount to push myself to read. I haven't been doing as well as last year with my reading, so I'm planning to push myself and try to get back into the swing of reading this many books in a week.
I've picked a mix of review books/books I own to give me a balance.

1. Ruins by Dan Wells
2. Soulmates by Holly Bourne
3. Feather Bound by Sarah Raughley
4. The Three by Sarah Lotz
5. Renegade by Debra Driza
6. The Dark World by Cara Lynn Shultz
7. The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

Goals
I've also got a few goals that I'm hoping I'll be able to meet every day during the read-a-thon:
1. Comment on at least 5 different blogs per day
2. Take part in at least 2 challenges
3. Participate in at least 1 twitter chat
4. Try to finish one book per day
5. Read 300 pages per day

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to complete all of my goals!

Let me know in the comments what your goals for Bout of Books are (if you're taking part)!
Good luck everyone!

Waiting on Wednesday #78

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event,  hosted by breaking the spine, that spotlights upcoming
releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Series: No
Publisher: Atria Books
Publication Date: August 5th 2014

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

I've loved every single Colleen Hoover book I've read so far and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love this one. I've also cried at every single one of them. Colleen herself said that she hasn't cried at any of the books she's written yet (although Ridge from Maybe Someday did make her tear up), but that Miles had her sobbing. I'm going to be a mess reading this book but I just want it so bad! I need more of Colleen's books in my life.

April Wrap Up/May TBR

April Wrap Up
Hello everyone! We're 5 months into the year now (it's going so fast!) and I've finally managed to read 20 books! I've been trying to do it every month since the start of the year but April is the first month I've managed it! So, in April I read 20 books and 1 novella:
My two favourites this month would have to be Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover and You're the One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher. Both of these book made me cry my eyes out and they're both amazing <3

May TBR
So for May I have a massive TBR list. Honestly, it's really big and I'm kicking myself for making it this big but I just want to read all of these books so bad!
I'm taking part in Bout of Books this month so I'm planning to read 7 books for that. I'm also buddy reading a few books with Brittany and I'm also reading a book that I'm going to be doing a collab video about with Rachel from RayKayBooks. PLUS, there are a few May releases that I just NEED TO READ as soon as they come out. May is going to be a busy month.
Fingers crossed I can read all of these!

What was your favourite book of April and what book are you most excited to read this month?

Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy.

How to Love by Katie Cotugno

How to Love by Katie Cotugno
Series: No
Publisher: Quercus
Publication Date: October 3rd 2013
Source: Bought

This is a love story. But it’s not what you think. This is not a first kiss, or a first date. This is not love at first sight. This is a boy and a girl falling in messy, unpredictable, thrilling love. This is the complicated route to happiness that follows.

This is real. This is life. This is how to love.

BEFORE: Reena has loved Sawyer LeGrande for as long as she can remember. But he’s never noticed her, until one day… he does. They fall in messy, complicated love. But then Sawyer disappears from their humid Florida town, leaving a devastated – and pregnant – Reena behind.

AFTER: Three years later and there’s a new love in Reena’s life: her daughter Hannah. But just as swiftly and suddenly as he disappeared, Sawyer turns up again.

After everything that’s happened, can Reena really let herself love Sawyer again?

I buddy read this one with Brittany from This is the Story of My Reading Life. We'd originally planned to read it in March - but we couldn't fit it in - so we bumped it onto our April TBR's because we really wanted to read it. Glad we managed to fit it in in April because I really enjoyed it.

The main thing I loved was that this wasn't a perfect, straight-forward love story and that both characters had major flaws. Reena and Sawyer were together; Sawyer had major problems; Reena got sick of it; Sawyer left; Reena found out she was pregnant; Had her baby and then 3 years later... Sawyer returns.

The story was told in two different timelines: Before & After. Before: The story of how Reena & Sawyer's relationship started. After: 3 years after they got together and all the events after Sawyer's return.

Reen is a socially-awkward character who prefers her own company. She has a major weakness when it comes to Sawyer. She comes from a Catholic family and they looked down on her when she became pregnant. She's kind of a shitty friend, but she has dealt with a lot of shit so sometimes I could excuse her. But I did have a love/hate relationship with Reena.

I had a like/hate relationship with Sawyer. I hated before Sawyer. He was such a dick and I wanted to punch him in the face so many times. I did feel bad because he was going through his own shit, but I hate that he dragged Reena with him. He treated Reena like shit before. After, he wasn't much better to start with. He waltzed back in like nothing had changed and was acting like the same jackass from before. But Sawyer grew a lot when he came back and by the end, I did like him.

Shelby is Reena's BFF. She tells it like it is and she's always trying to talk sense into Reena. She's hilarious and had me laughing out loud quite a lot. She's a great friend to Reena even though Reena doesn't always return the favour.

When it comes to the romance, the blurb tells it like it is: It's a mess. Reena and Sawyer went through a ton of shit before which would make you think they'd never in a million years try it again. But those two had a connection right from the word go. Reena had been hiding her feeling for Sawyer and Sawyer never knew about her feelings, but he liked her. Before Reena and Sawyer were a train-wreck. After Reena and Sawyer had a chance. I loved getting to see the Before relationship and the After relationship and understand why Reena had her hang-ups. It was real, and I think that's why I ended up rooting for the two of them.

Nothing in this story was perfect, and that's why I loved it so much. Neither Reena nor Sawyer are perfect. They both have major flaws and have made a lot of mistakes in the past and in the present. They're still learning and growing. Reena and Sawyer's families weren't perfect either. I hated Reena's dad for the way he was freezing out her and being such a dick, but I also understood his side. Sawyer's parents seemed determined to put on this perfect front and try to make it look like they hadn't been treating Reena like shit.

By the end I was rooting for Reena and Sawyer and I finished the book with a massive grin on my face. The ending gave me hope that they'll be able to be a proper family and that everything will work out.

Overall, I really loved How to Love. It was messy, heartbreaking, the characters were imperfect, but it just felt real and that's why I loved it.

Make sure to look out for Brittany's review because she had a few different thoughts about the book from me and I'm excited to read her review!
