Top Ten Books I Want To Reread

Most of the books on my list are the first books in series' that I need to re-read before I can continue because I've completely forgotten what happened.

1. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

My sister got me The Dream Thieves for Christmas last year, and I've been meaning to re-read The Raven Boys, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

2. Tempest by Julie Cross

I remember most of what happened in Tempest, but I don't remember Vortex and I really want to finish this trilogy, so I'm going to re-read it from the start.

3. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

I only ever read the first book in this series two years ago, but I have the next two sitting on my bookcase and I want to get them read.

4. Vampire Academy (series) by Richelle Mead

I love the Vampire Academy series, and I'd really just love to read it all over again.

5. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Same goes for Fangirl, it's amazing!

6. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

My Life Next Door is a fantastic contemporary that I want to re-read because it's such a fantastic story and Jase is adorable.

7. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

I adore Katie McGarry's books. They deserve to be re-read over and over again.

8. Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

I adore all of Stephanie Perkins books, and I've re-read Anna multiple times, and ever since I read Isla this year I've been dying to re-read it.

9. Legend by Marie Lu

Yet another first book in a series that I've forgotten most of. I meant to read Prodigy straight after Legend, but I never did.

10. Black City by Elizabeth Richards

And another that I don't remember most of. I remember loving it, and that there were weird vampire creatures, but that's about it.

I only started reading Jay Crownover's Marked Men series this year, but it's quickly became one of my favourites. I've been looking forward to Rowdy's book ever since I started the series. Rowdy is such a mysterious character, and we don't really know much about him or his past - only that he got his heart broken when he was younger - so I couldn't wait for his book to finally unravel the mystery of Rowdy.

Finding out about Rowdy's past actually broke my heart. Rowdy never knew his dad, and his mother died in a car accident, so he'd been in foster care since a very young age. Young Rowdy was extremely sweet, adorable, naive and my heart broke for him. After Rowdy had his heart broken, he gave up on finding love and never let himself get too involved with women. He closed himself off, but he was still so sweet and adorable, but also sexy and extremely charming. I adored Rowdy.

When Salem arrived at the end of Nash, I knew she was going to cause some trouble for Rowdy. It turns out that Rowdy lived next door to Salem's family when they were growing up, and he had a strong bond with Salem and her sister Poppy. Salem never fit in with her family, and she was always rebelling against her father's rules. She's feisty, strong and confident. She was determined to get out from under her father's rules, so at 18, she packed her bags and left - leaving behind her sister and Rowdy.

Rowdy and Salem both work in the tattoo shop together, so there's no escaping each other. Salem is determined to make Rowdy understand, but Rowdy doesn't want anything to do with her. He's still hung up on the past, and he doesn't know whether he can trust Salem. Rowdy always hinted that something happened with Poppy - who broke Rowdy's heart - and we find out a lot more about Rowdy, Salem and Poppy, and we see how much guilt Salem carries for running off and leaving Poppy with their father. I loved seeing Rowdy and Salem together, and seeing the way they interacted with each other. It was pretty obvious that they were meant to be together. They had some serious chemistry in the bedroom, I think they have the hottest relationship of the series for me -  but they had a lot of shit to sort out before they could even think about being together properly. And the Poppy showed up in the second half and shit got real. It was crazy and had my holding onto my kindle for dear life. My heart was racing because I just wouldn't have been able to deal with it if something happened to any of the characters. 

I love that all the characters in this series are so intertwined into each others lives. I always get to see my favourite characters! I was totally right about the Shaw & Rule thing (SPOILER: OMG. Shaw is pregnant! A baby Rule!); I had a stupid smile on my face thanks to Rome & Cora; Jet & Ayden are still having some problems, but they're amazing and Nash & Saint are just adorable! Asa is also quickly becoming one of my favourites, and I felt so bad for him in Rowdy. He just can't catch a break. I'm dying to read his book, and if he and Royal don't get together, I will not be happy.

Yet again, the epilogue has just left me dying for the next book. I just can't get enough of these guys, their girls and their world. It's such an amazing series, and I just need Asa right now!

October Wrap Up/November TBR

Hello everyone! Can you believe it's November already? It's almost the end of the year! I managed to post quite a few reviews this month, but I've still got a lot to post, so I'm planning to sit down sometime next week and get them all written. 

So this month Brittany and I completely sucked at our buddy reads. We tried to read 2 of the books we wanted to read, and we just weren't in the mood for them. Oh well!

So in October, I managed to read 15 books:

My favourite book of October was a no brainer: Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I love The Dark Elements series so much, and I was so happy to be back in that world and reading about Roth again <3

November TBR

So just like last month I have 7 review books that I definitely need to get through.

I think Brittany and I are going to try and finally buddy read Fire with Fire by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian, since Ashes to Ashes is out now. I've started reading Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers in preparation for Mortal Heart coming out this month. Also, The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin is released in a few days! I'll be dropping everything to read this one! I have a pile of books sitting on my bookcase that I intend to read this month, but who knows whether I'll be in the mood for them or not.

MORE CORA CARMACK!! You guys know how much I love Cora Carmack, so when I heard she was writing a New Adult Paranormal book, I just about died. I don't think I've ever read about about a muse before, so I'm super excited to see what Cora does with it! But mostly I'm just excited because it's another Cora Carmack book! I need it now!

Top Ten Characters Who I Would Totally Want To Be For Halloween

1. Isabelle Lightwood (Mortal Instruments)

A bad ass Shadowhunter? Yes, please! Isabelle is so awesome, and I want her whip bracelet.
2. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
I've already been Hermione for Halloween, but I'll never stop wanting to be her.

3. Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)

Who wouldn't want to be Katniss for Halloween? I'd have a hard time choosing which costume though - The red dress or the games outfit.

4. Celaena Sardothien (Throne of Glass)

If I got to pretend for one day that I was Celaena Sardothien, it'd be an awesome day.

5. America Singer (The Selection)

Pretty dresses, and I'd get to be a princess!

I love Daenerys' costumes in the TV show, and she's pretty awesome and has dragons!

 Top Ten Movies To Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit

1. The Conjuring

I've only seen The Conjuring once, but once was enough. It was an extremely creepy horror movie, plus, there's Annabel. 

2. Hocus Pocus

I watch Hocus Pocus every single year around Halloween. I'll never get sick of this movie.

3. The Lost Boys

I love The Lost Boys! It's such a fantastic vampire movie, and it is slightly scary at times.

4. The Ring

The Ring is just a classic. Every time I had a horror movie night with my friends, we always ended up watching The Ring.

Ever since I read The Naturals last year I've been dying for the sequel. There was still so much to learn about all of the characters, also, there was a love triangle that needed to be solved.

Killer Instinct definitely didn't let me down. As soon as I started reading it, I was completely sucked in. Jennifer Lynn Barns's writing is addictive and I just couldn't put this book down - no matter how creeped out I was! 

So we're back with The Naturals - Lia, Michael, Sloane, Cassie & Dean - and everyone is still reeling from what happened to Cassie. There's a new agent at the house determined to keep the group from working active cases, but a new serial killer appears and the victims murders strike close to home for one of The Naturals - the murderer is copying Dean's father. Although they're told to stay out of it, The Naturals decide that they have to solve this case for Dean and try to stop the killer before the bodies start piling up.

I absolutely loved that this book was about a murderer copying Dean's father because it meant I got to learn more about Dean! Dean is an extremely closed off character. He keeps his emotions to himself and shuts down when things get too hard. He's moody and broody, but it's all because of what he went through with his father. I loved getting to understand Dean more and find out some more about his past and his childhood. The new agent also provided some insight into Dean's past because she worked with Briggs on Dean's fathers case and she was extremely close to him. 

Cassie is a naive but also pretty awesome character. She has her moments where I absolutely love her because she's so smart and awesome, and other times I want to knock some sense into her. Lia is snarky, bitchy and also awesome. Sloane is extremely smart, adorably awkward and just amazing. Michael is sweet, protective but also kind of a jerk.

I loved that we still got the POV of the killer - and it's written in second person narrative which makes it even creepier. I had to get my fiancé to take the book off of me one night because I couldn't put it down but it was creeping me out and I needed to go to sleep. The killers POV creeped me out in the first book and it did the same in this one - but I absolutely loved those snippets.

Like Cassie and the rest of The Naturals, I thought I had the killer figured out - and then evidence turned up to prove that they couldn't have done it. And that happened twice! I was at a complete loss as to who the killer could be since my two suspects had alibis. I loved being kept on my toes and there were so many twists and surprises that I never saw coming.

The ending was the biggest surprise about this book. I was on edge the whole time when I was reading it and I wouldn't have put it down for anything. There were parts where I had hope something good would happen and other parts where my stomach completely dropped. Barnes definitely kept me on my toes. There was also something that happened at that end that made me extremely happy.

Overall, Killer Instinct was a fantastic follow up to The Naturals. It was captivating, nail-biting, full of suspense and shocking twists. There's still a lot to be discovered about the other Naturals and I can't wait for the next book! Killer Instinct is out next Tuesday and I'd definitely recommend grabbing a copy! And if you haven't started this series yet... what are you waiting for? It's amazing!
