This book too me sooooo long to get into. I felt like most of the book was extremely slow paced and boring and I didn't really get into it until the last quarter, which was really interesting and full of action.
I didn't really like the main character Sam to start with, but he grew on me throughout the book. He has the potential to become a really strong character and I can't wait to read the next book to see how his character develops.
I really didn't like the character of Quinn though. I hated him from the very start because of his constant use of the word 'Brah', but then I really started to hate him more as I continued to read on.
I think Astrid was my favourite character in the book. She's an extremely intelligent 14 year old and I absolutely loved her. I didn't like the romance between her and Sam, because:
- They're 14
- It was extremely rushed
- They said 'I love you'
There was no need for the 'I love you' whatsoever. It was made even worse by the fact that they're only 14! I felt that it was completely unnecessary and it really annoyed me.
There was a lot of action at the end with the big fight scene between the people who followed Sam and the people who followed Caine and I really enjoyed that. It was nice to have some action and something exciting in the book.
The ending really made me want to read the next book and I have my fingers crossed that it will be better than the first.

I'm glad you kind of liked it :D I really liked this one, but the second was disappointing and kind of boring. I'm going to read the rest of the series once they're all out, though. Great review, Samantha!

I loved this book but I understand the whole 'love' thing, it was NOT needed in the book, ergh pointless relationship is pointless and boring. But other than that I loved it myself!
ReplyDeleteThe love thing really annoyed me! I mean, they're 14! It's NOT necessary in a book with people that young. I'm hoping I'll really like the second one because I started to really enjoy Gone at the end. :)
DeleteI thought Hunger was definitely just as good as the first one - normally they dip on the second books generally I feel but this one kept up the same pace :)
