Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris--the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.

Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls' bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett's only friend--but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for?
I loved this book! It had me hooked right from the start and I couldn't even pick up another book because I was so hooked on this book! I loved the take on the red riding hood fairytale and I thought this retelling was extremely unique and very very interesting.
I loved Scarlett and Rosie. They were my favourite characters in this book. I admired their strength because of what they went through at such a young age and how they managed to train and learn how to fight to protect other people from what happened to them. Scarlett's strength was amazing and powerful and I loved reading about her hunting Fenris' (wolves) and how much she loved saving people's lives.
I also really liked Silas. He was such a funny, charming and lovable character that you just couldn't hate him. The relationship between Silas and Rosie was one that I was rooting for right from the very beginning when Silas turned up. There was just something about the interactions between them that you knew they were going to get together and I was so happy when they did! They're such a cute couple! Their relationship has also been developing for years because they've known each other since they were young and even though you don't get to see their relationship develop from that stage, I still think their love wasn't a case of insta-love since they were childhood friends.
The action scenes in this book were exciting and thrilling. They had me on the edge of my seat hoping that none of the characters would be seriously injured or killed because I grew attached to them all.
There was one part of the story line that I did find predictable. I totally guessed who the Potential was. I had an inkling about who it was going to be, and I was pretty upset to discover I was right. I'd been convincing myself that it couldn't be this person because I didn't want it to be, but it was. Completely predictable, but it still kind of broke my heart.
I absolutely loved this book and and I thought it was such a good take on the red riding hood fairytale.
It had me hooked and I couldn't put it down.
I couldn't even take a star off for it being slightly predictable because for me, this was over-ruled by how completely amazing the story line was. I highly recommend reading this book if you haven't already because it was an awesome book!

  2. Despite the fact that I saw from miles what the plot was going to be, it didn't spoil the fun for me. The characters and the writing-style were enough to make this book highly entertaining :D Aren't Rosie and Silas a cute couple or what <3 And the cover is so pretty! Even prettier in real life, with the shine parts. Awesome review :)
