TRAGIC is over and Rook is ready for the future—Spencer Shrike and the STURGIS contract!
It’s three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike’s paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine’s camera, and three months of twenty-four hour filming for Spencer’s Biker Channel reality show.
Wait a minute…what reality show? Maybe she should’ve read that STURGIS contract a little closer? ;)
Sure, Rook’s bank account is almost overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Her new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy them.
Add in a mysterious man from her past, a road trip to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and a final show in front of the entire world where all her good are on display, and you’ve Manic—a new adult contemporary romance that will definitely make your summer sizzle!
Manic was just as good, if not better than Tragic. There storyline was much more exciting, and there was also bit of action towards the end of the book that was completely unexpected!
Rook has finished the Tragic shoot and is about to start the Sturgis shoot with Spencer against Ronin's wishes.
I liked Rook a lot more in this one. Even though she regretted taking the Sturgis, she took everything in her stride and did what she had to do. She never let anyone push her around, everything was on her terms. There were times I wish she'd stood up for herself and told people to GTF, but overall I really liked her character.
I absolutely LOVE Ronin. He's just so perfect, and sweet! We started to find out a lot more about Ronin's past in this one. I was slightly shocked to find out what Ronin, Spence & Ford had done when they were young. But Ronin was trying to put it behind him. He would to anything to protect Rook, and that's the main reason I love him so much.
Spence is one of my favourite characters in this book. He's just such a likable guy! He's so sweet and friendly, and he was trying to make Rook as comfortable as possible during the shoot (even if he did flirt with her).
I was very iffy with Ford the whole way through the book. I never knew where I stood with him! He could be all nice one minute, but then baiting Ronin and flirting with Rook the next! So, I honestly don't know whether I like him or not.
The photo shoot in this one was more fascinating. I loved seeing what Spence could create with his paints and hearing how when Rook was all painted it, she actually looked like she was wearing clothes (even though she was completely naked!). It was such a fascinating experience to read about! I loved all of Spence's designs and the bikes. It was a brilliant photo shoot.
The part at the end with Jon was shocking. I was terrified for Rook. I was waiting for Ronin to come bursting through the door like a knight in shining armor. But Rook managed to hold her own. She stood up for herself, never gave into Jon and finally managed to get him out of her life. I was so proud of Rook at the end.
I just completely love this series! The characters, the photo shoots and the chemistry between Rook and Ronin are all brilliant! If you're a fan of New Adult, this is definitely a series I recommend reading.

ReplyDeleteKatie, you HAVE to read this series! It's awesome :)
DeleteI have read this book one time with my friends in library. I like the musicians best, but a hot shot ad exec or lawyer is nice one in a while, too.

I'm also curious about this ending now I love how strong Ronin seems to be - love women who stand up for themselves!! Great review!
