Bout of Books: Progress

Bout of Books
Join in with Bout of Books!

So this time I'm not setting myself any specific books to read since I never stick to TBR's anymore, but my goal for Bout of Books is to read 3 books. Hopefully I can read more than that, but if I can't, 3 should be an achievable number. Let me know in the comments if you're participating and what your goals are - if you have any!

This post will be my main post for updates throughout the read-a-thon.

Monday
Monday has been a pretty slow start to the read-a-thon. I was house sitting from mid-December and I got home yesterday, so I spent the first part of today catching up with the TV shows I've got recorded on the Sky box downstairs. And then I was working tonight and didn't get home until 8pm, and I didn't start reading until around 9.45pm. I'd already started A Wicked Thing before bout of books, but I really want to get it finished. I'm about 61% of the way in now - read 25% today - and things are just starting to get interesting. Hopefully I should get this one finished tomorrow and then I'm thinking of reading either: Talon by Julie Kagawa or A Cold Legacy by Megan Shepherd. Not sure which yet, I'll see how I feel in the morning.

Challenge - Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt
1. Find an author with the same initials as you - Sara Shepard
2. Find a book with the colour yellow on it - Landline by Rainbow Rowell
3. Find an author's name with the letter "S" in it - Danielle L. Jensen
4. Find a book with a female protagonist - Rose from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
5. Find the longest book you own - Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon (1070 pages)
6. Find a book with a map in it or on it - Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
7. Find a book with a face on it (photographed or illustrated) - Splintered by A. G. Howard
BONUS: Find something on your shelf that isn't a book - Dancing Groot Pop!

Tuesday
Today has been a much more productive day that yesterday. I finished my first book this morning! As soon as I woke up I dove straight back into A Wicked Thing because I wanted to get it finished. It was an enjoyable read. And then I got distracted by TV again. I got caught up with The Strain, watched an episode of Dominion and then went back to watching Suits - it's my new addiction. It was the season 2 premier of The 100 in the UK tonight, so obviously I had to watch it and then it was time for Supernatural! E4 have picked it up so I'll be spending my Tuesday's re-watching season 2 of The 100 and season 9 of Supernatural. After Supernatural I moved onto my second read of bout of books and I decided to go with Talon. I've adored all of Julie Kagawa's books so far so I've got high hopes for Talon. So all in all, I read around 207 pages today.

Wednesday
Today has been an even more productive day than yesterday because I finished my second book! I've been eagerly anticipating Talon for months so I basically spent my whole day in bed reading it - when I wasn't cleaning the house and making dinner. Talon was definitely worth the wait! It was such an amazing read. Other than reading, cleaning and making dinner, I didn't do much else today.

Thursday
Other than reading, today has been a pretty uneventful day. But, I did manage to get another two books finished! I started with Between the Lives which was a very different and intriguing read that I loved. I then moved onto Camp Boyfriend because I wanted something a bit lighter. I didn't particularly enjoy Camp Boyfriend - it was ok - mainly because of the main character (but I'll get into that in my review). So, that was basically my day (which I spent in my pyjamas).

Friday
Today has been yet another uneventful day - minus the destruction the winds caused last night. I've been waiting all week for Ignite to show up, and it finally did today! I had to start is right away since I've been waiting since Novemeber 2013 for it - and it didn't let me down! And then I had to go to work (boo) where it was completely dead because no one in their right mind would come out in this horrible weather, and then went to see my fiance for a few hours. And when I got home I decided to start Never Never. I'm 24% of the way through this one, and I'm pretty sure it'll be my last read of bout of books since I'll be pretty busy Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday
I never got a single bit of reading done yesterday because I was pretty ill. I woke up with a huge migraine and ended up spending most of the day in bed sleeping. But later one my dad took me out to upgrade my phone, so I finally have new one (yay)! Today my fiance and I went to the cinema to see Into the Woods (pretty good) and then we went bowling later on with his cousins. I managed to get Never Never finished as well, which I'm really happy with.

Overall
Number of books finished: 6
Number of pages read: 1,811

So, overall I managed to beat my goal of 3 books! I never took part in as many challenges as I would've liked to, and I also never got to participate in any of the twitter chats which made me sad. But I'm really happy with what I managed to accomplish. Let me know in the comments how Bout of Books went for you!

    1. Thank you!
I love it too! It'd be even more awesome if it actually danced, but w/e. It's head moves, but that's about it.

  3. I have to comment on Dancing Groot too! My 6 year old daughter cracked up at that part and I may have to grab that for her birthday next month :)

Good luck with your goals this week! I can't do a strict TBR anymore either. I'm the worst at sticking to them!

    1. I was doubled over laughing in the cinema! It's called the 'Dancing Groot Pop!' but it actually doesn't dance, which was slightly disappointing. It's head moves - like a bobble head - but it's still adorable <3
Thanks Sarah! I used to be so good at sticking to TBR's, but now everytime I write one I want to rebel against it and read different books.
