Best friends since they could walk.

In love since the age of fourteen.

Complete strangers since this morning.

He'll do anything to remember.

She'll do anything to forget.

Wow is this hard book to review since it's not actually a full book, but half of one. Honestly, if I'd known this was part 1 of a story I wouldn't have started it, but I was a third of the way through when I found out.

Never Never follows Charlie and Silas who both lose their memories in the middle of class, but the strange thing is they remember everything apart from who they are, what they've done and who their family is.

I was expecting big things from Never Never. With one of the authors being Colleen Hoover, I was obviously expecting big things. But honestly, Never Never just didn't live up to my expectations. The main problem I had with it was that I never connected with the characters at all. I felt nothing towards them. Although both Charlie and Silas did managed to make me annoyed at them. From what we learnt about them, they were supposed to be this perfect couple who were completely in love. But, they were both cheating on each other... Well, obviously they didn't love each other that much. In my opinion, neither Charlie nor Silas had any sort of personality for me to connect with, which is extremely unfortunate because I was really looking forward to this book.

The only thing that kept me reading - and that will make me read part 2 - is the mystery. Why did Charlie and Silas forget only things relevant to their lives? Why both of them? What happened with their fathers? What was with the blank card? Also, the ending left me with a lot more questions as well that I'm dying to know the answers too. There's something bigger going on here and I'm unsure whether it's something magical or something supernatural - I'm swaying more towards supernatural - but I'm hoping it'll be something awesome enough to justify reading part 2.

Overall, Never Never didn't wow me. The mystery was the only thing the book had going for it (imo), but it is enough to make me want part 2 of the story so that says something.

  1. I can't believe that this is only half of a book! I didn't really pay attention to this one until the reviews started, but after that, I was curious. THAT WAS UNTIL I REALISED HOW SHORT IT WAS AND THAT THERE WAS A PART TWO. What the heck. That's so not for me. I'm going to wait for part two before I dive in. Disconnection is hard and can completely ruin a book for me so I understand where you're coming from. Luckily, I kind of have no expectations for this one. Hoover never really does it for me so I don't mind. I'll wait for part two (and perhaps your review) before I dive in! Fantastic review, Samantha! x

    1. I'd definitely hold off until part 2. If I'd found out before I bought it and started reading it, I would have too. I think that's the main reason I was so let down by Never Never, I had HUGE expectations because Hoover is one of my favourite authors. The characters were just so dull and not very likeable.
      Thanks Jess! :) x

  2. Yup! What a shame...
And by the time part 2 releases in May there's a very good chance I will have lost all interest.

    1. It was just so BLAH. Idc what happens to them, I really just want to know why and how.
      I'll probably forget about it...

  3. I have heard mixed reviews about this one. The fact that it is not a whole book annoys me. It's like the author wanted to make it into a series for no reason, just to sell more books maybe. I may give it a chance when the second one comes out. Maybe I'll see what the other reviews are like first. :)
