Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Shatter Me was a very strange and unique novel. I was extremely unsure when I first started reading it whether I would enjoy it or not. But after a couple of chapters, I got used to the odd writing style and the story completely sucked me in.

Shatter Me follows out main character Juliette who has be locked up and hasn't spoken/touched anyone in 264 days. Juliette's touch is fatal and she was locked up for murder. The Reestablishment has decided that their way is the only way to fix destroyed world and they will do anything to keep people under control. Juliette is offered a choice and she must decide whether she wants to be a weapon, or whether she wants to fight.

I really liked Juliette's character. Her touch can kill people, and she's determined not to use it. Juliette is such a kind character and she only wants to help people. Her parents never loved her and even when she tried to help, she ended up hurting people. I felt so sorry for her because she's such an amazing character and she doesn't deserve everything she went through.

The two guys in this book were completely different and I had completely different opinions about them. I adored Adam. Adam was just amazing. He and Juliette had known each other when they were younger, and Adam always cared about her. He was such a sweet and caring character, he would do anything for Juliette.
Warner on the other hand was an ass. I hated his character the second he appeared in the book. I wanted to punch him throughout the whole book. He was so determined to control Juliette and was so horrible to her! I'm not a fan of him at all.

The writing in this book was so unique and interesting. There were sentences crossed out and repeating words, but I loved it! The crossed out sentences allowed me to get to know Juliette better and see what she was thinking. She thought a lot of things, but then said the complete opposite out loud. There were also things that she didn't want to tell people, and I loved getting to know Juliette better. It was definitely an writing interesting and unique writing style.

The storyline was interesting as well. I loved learning more about the world Juliette lives in and about her power. I was extremely intrigued to find out how Juliette got her power. I was also really intrigued by Warner (even though I hated him) and I wanted to know what he was up to.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the ending made me even more intrigued to find out what's going to happen next! I definitely need to get my hands on a copy of Unravel Me soon!

  1. The ending really was good, probably the best part of the entire novel. I was almost giving up, but the ending changed my mind so I will definitely read on. :)

    1. I definitely agree with that! The ending was what made me give this book four stars! It was only going to be three stars until I got to the end. I'm quite excited to read on now!

  2. Amazing review! I agree about warming up to the odd-writing style, as well as the intriguing ending-- but honestly, I preferred the sequel to this one :D I really liked Juliette's character, because I loved how strong she was despite everything she had to go through. I liked Adam well enough and as for Warner... well I really didn't like him in this book. Suffice it to say though, my views on him did a 360 after reading Unravel Me. So yeah, you have GOTS to read that book! If you liked this one, that one will rock your socks clean off ;)

  3. I agree that the writing style takes a little bit to get used to, but it's beautiful and strange and it just draws you in! And the next books just keep on building and getting better and better! You need to read Warner's novella too! Before reading book 2 actually!

    1. It does, but it was definitely a beautiful novel! I've tried to get the novella, but I can't find it anywhere in the UK! So I don't think I'll be able to read it :(
