Waiting on Wednesday #85

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event,  hosted by breaking the spine, that spotlights upcoming
releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Talon by Julie Kagawa
Series: Talon #1
PublisherHarlequin Teen
Publication Date: October 28th 2014

Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.

Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.

Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons.

I adore Julie Kagawa's books and Talon sounds like it might be her best one yet! It's about dragons and the dragons can pretend to be humans... which just sounds awesome! I can't wait to find out more about the dragons and the Order of St. George. I just need this book.

What are you waiting on this week?

  1. I'm really looking forward to this one, too. I picked up an ARC at BEA, I just haven't had time to get to it yet! Soon, though. :)

  2. I KNOW!!! I'm so excited for this one! I don't know the last time I read a brilliant dragon book. Probably Seraphina. And that was at least two years ago. :D

But it's Julie Kagawa. It's bound to be awesome.

  3. There is a serious lack of dragons on my bookshelf, and I love Kagawa's other books so I'm VERY excited for this one as well! Great pick!

  4. I've seen Talon around the blogosphere a few times, it sounds interesting. I haven't yet read a book by this author though, even though I own a copy of The Immortal Rules.
